Comme des Garçons 90’s long grey boiled wool coat
Another testimony of Comme Des Garçons..
This boiled wool coat from the 90’s represents once again the simplicity of CDG and its “poor aesthetic”, leaving visible the way the coat is made, its seams and its remaining, uncut fabric.
Nothing to add, except showing explicitly the way the coat has been constructed and sewn together. The unfinished aspect creates a sense of complexity and rawness.
From the Comme des Garçons, Comme des garçons line, it strips clothes from their embellishments and takes it down to the essence.
You feel the hand of the person that made this piece, creating a sense of intimacy, as if the coat was tailored made for you.
But, as If the designers couldn’t resist adding a touch of extravagance or character, they decided the buttons of the coat would be something quite particular: Checkered, square and big, they illuminate the designer’s love for playfulness and the unexpected.
