Chloé FW 2001 beige coat with integrated corset and metallic rooster / dragon plate
Sometimes you find the archive piece of your dreams...
As is the case with this incredible Chloé coat from the iconic FW 2001 collection.
The coat has a built-in corset, creating an ultra feminine figure, and closes all the way from the upright neck to the bottom hem with a row of large visible hook closures, giving her a victorian appearance. An extra zip closure in a bold green and the red interior bone casing of the corset add a modern touch.
The campaign of that season was set against the Notre Dame de Paris, with the models posing besides the cathedral's mystical stone creatures: the gargoyles. With their monstrous and fearsome appearance, they served to ward off negative forces and remind the faithful of the perils of sin.
The collection, though overal soft and luxurious in its choice of materials, brown and beige colours and shapes, with lots of silk, pearls and beads, contrastingly also featured metallic plates of bats, roosters, dragons .. adding a touch of darkness and mystique to the collection.
The coat we have features a metallic plate of an intertwined rooster and dragon, caught in a dance or a fight, sewn on the back.
A high slit in the back reveals an elegant fold with another row of hook closures, allowing the wearer to create a wider or more closed bottom of the coat.
