Roland Klein (born Rouen, France 1938) began working under marc Bohan at Dior in the early 1960's, he then worked as Karl Lagerfeld's assistant at Patou. In 1979 he opened his own firm in London. Known for his understated chic, Klein designed clothes for Diana, Princess of Wales, throughout her time in the public eye, including one of her favourite outfits, frequently seen at polo matches and informal occasions from 1981 to 1987 - a trompe l'oeil jumper decorated with rhinestones.
