Roberta di Camerino is an Italian designer who founded her house in Venice. She's known mostly for her handbag designs and the use of trompe l'oeil prints. She's regarded as being the first to introduce the monogram design patterned with a trellis of R's in 1946, foreshadowing Gucci's G's. Her designs were widely copied. Although this upset her, Coco Chanel reassured her, telling her not to cry about being copied, but to 'cry the day they don't copy you'.
