Drop dead gorgeous Vivienne Westwood one of a kind Haute Couture dress made from a golden tapestry type fabric. With puffy shoulders and signature Westwood draping, this dress is absolutely astonishing.
This dress is the most iconic piece from Magda's exquisite personal vintage archive and was purchased from my family's store around 2000s.
The dress was actually borrowed from the atelier of Westwood for my family's Christmas window displays and fashion show but ended up being sold to one of their clients: Magda E.J.
Size fits 36 EU
Excellent vintage condition
In Magda's words:
The very last of the many annual fashion shows that the Jeurissen's organised took place at the Hasselt Fashion Museum.
For that occasion, Vivienne Westwood had sent this dress to show. ‘I'm buying that,’ I immediately said to Maurice Jeurissen when I saw the dress. He agreed immediately. But it turned out that the piece was not for sale at all: it was an exclusive haute couture piece and haute couture is never sold at other stores than the designer's own atelier, so the dress was destined to return to Vivienne Westwood's atelier.
However: when the British designer learned of what had happened, she changed protocol. Because Maurice and Brigitte had given their word to a client, she exceptionally agreed anyway. Your word is your word, she thought. So I was allowed to buy the haute couture dress anyway. We were so happy that it worked out, and that I was the lucky one!”
