The newspaper print was first used by Elsa Schiaparelli in 1930s but reached mainstream culture thanks to John Galliano, and one of the most famous TV characters of all time, Carrie Bradshaw. The print was first used by Galliano in his Clochards Couture Collection Spring Summer 2000 and has been reproduced many times after that. This silk printed blouse is a spin on the original newspaper print.
John Galliano is fashion’s flamboyant king of the 21st century. Next to having his own brand, he destroyed and rebuilt the Christian Dior brand in the early 2000s. He is currently creative director at Maison Margiela (2014).
